and Leanie van der Vyver in 2018
ALIENE specialize in the fabrication and design of Fashion Adjacent Costumes. Their work can be defined as Afro-Futurism with a European sense with regard to design and style. They design and fabricate one-off looks for the performing arts, Film industry, and private clients.
Elaine Graduated from CPUT in Fashion design and has worked in the Fashion industry in various capacities, owning her own fashion label, working for Elle Magazine, working in the film industry in both Wardrobe and Art Department, and designing & fabricating for private clients for the last 15 years. In the team, she makes and designs all the Garments. Leanie graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Product Design and have 20 years of experience in the fashion and film industry. She has worked as a Fashion Editor, Director and Stylist. Her fashion/Art creations have been exhibited in the Guggenheim, Moma and Brooklyn Museum to name a few. Leanie designs all the 3D elements, like accessories and shoe customs.
